Default YZ250 Won't Start

Hey guys, I have a question regarding my friends 96 YZ 250. This darn bike caused us to miss yet another outing. Just to give you a little history here. Last time he rode with me he bent a ring. We replaced the top and fired the bike up and the clutch basket literally exploded. Because of the explosion the cases had to be split so all of the chunks of metal could be cleaned out. We replaced the clutch basket, all steels and fibers, gasket kit and water pump impeller. Did a leak down test and all seems well. We go to start it up yesterday before leaving for the track and nothing. Checked for spark with no luck. We started checking connections and grounds to make sure that all was well in that area. We could not find any problems. Next we pulled the flywheel and stator only to find that one of the wires that come of the stator was broke loose. We soldered the wire back in place thinking the bike would be running in a few short minutes. Once again, no spark at all. You can even hold the plug in hand and kick the bike and not feel a thing. At this point were are extremely frustrated so I obviously find time to slip in a few "you should have bought a Honda jokes." Does anyone have a clue as to what this might be. It worked fine with plenty of spark after replacing the top end and now nothing. Just seems like something simple. I understand that the stator can go bad, but the performace/spark usually diminishes over time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Jason

Not really sure on this one.

You might try to get your friend to buy a factory yamaha service manual, they have good electrical troubleshooting charts and diagrams to help you figure out the problem.

or you can try your friendly local dealer ** (sarchastic tone implied)**
