Default V-force 3 reeds,no difference !!

Well i just put VF3 reeds in my 2000 CR250 and to be quite honest I can not tell any difference at all. The old reeds were stock type but in fine shape, very tight and no leaks. As much as I try, I really can not tell any difference at all. I ride the bike hard on a track and was hoping for quicker acceleration but it simply is not there. In order to put the reeds in on this model bike you need to modify the stock piece coming off the carb and you can not go back and reuse the old cage once modified. Oh well at least i can put the cool VF3 stickers on my bike.

How is the jetting? More often then not a little compensation is required to eploit the potential.

My jetting is fine. I just don't see any difference. Maybe, maybe, maybe it revs just a tiny bit faster and might have a teeny tiny bit more power but it could just be my imagination trying to justify them. Bottom line is that they just did not make much if any difference on my bike. Could be that the reeds i took out were a good quality Boysen reed already, not sure. The cage was for sure stock. Oh well.

When we changed them on my son's bike the weather had changed to being much cooler,,so we rejetted for that. his 2000 had stock reeds that had been in a season. there are some different positions that the reed can be set to. he set his for max midrange and over the stock ones it was noticeable in that it brought the wheel up or broke it loose in the lower rev ranges more easily. I didnt like that.

In the end it would be hard for me to spend the money when you can do some headwork for less and get more snap if that is what you are after.

Topend is just a few months old, I keep everything well maintained. I went riding again today and I may be able to confess a slight improvement but it certainly is not real noticable. I guess i was looking for "knock your socks off" improvement. It may also be that the reeds i took off were pretty good to start with. My son has a 2003 YZ125 that turned into a white knuckle screamer with the VF reeds. I was looking for that kind of improvement. Don't get me wrong it still runs great just lacks that super crisp response i was looking for like his YZ has. Maybe i need to do more jet work, i don't know.

That's strange.

I've always heard raving reviews on this little contraptions.

Mine arrived in the mail today and can't wait to ride with it!

What? Heck no. The new ones have a complete cage and everything. Just replace the whole cage assembly and away you go.
