![]() Guys , I just bought my 5 year old son a 49cc Pocket dirt bike ( not the best quality ) but its his first bike and I wanted something cheap for him to start out on , the only thing is I am having a heck of a time starting it . It is furnished with a pull start and I yanked on it about 100 times and it would not start. I have the correct fuel to oil ratio 50:1 , I checked the spark plug it was a bit fouled from the first ride but I since cleaned it and reinstalled it (still "no dice") . Cleaned the air filter , buggered around with the mixing screw (nothing) . I am totally new at this but willing to learn , I am determined to solve this problem on my own without having to bring it in to a shop , guys where should I start ? any advise would be greatly appreciated , thanks in advance . |

![]() Check the kill switch. Heard they can sometimes stick and ground out. Just a thought. You try bump starting it? ![]() |

![]() [QUOTE=Riptide369 , how do I go about testing the kill switch ?[/QUOTE] I would try to disconnect it from the wire harness, then try to start it. If it starts then the button is making contact in the switch. You try cussing at it? It normal doesn't help but sure makes you feel better ![]() |

![]() Guys Checked the kill switch ,wasn't the problem , and cleaned the spark plug real good Not sure what I did but , i was fiddling around with the carb and I disconnected the fuel line between the tank and the top of the carb just to assure it was getting fuel and that the hose was not clogged ..... so when I removed it there was a steady supply of fuel , I connected the hose back up and for the heck of it I tried starting it ........ to my surprise it fired right up after a coupe of pulls ??????? What do you guy think ..... some sort of air lock within the carb? ![]() |
