Default Hitting a jump, on a 2 stroke

This may be a stupid question. I'm 39 and just bought a 2000 CR250 for myself and a 04 CR 125 for my son. My question was about going off a jump. On my 4 stroke quads (400EX's ) I always get up to speed and slightly blip the throttle at the top of the jump to bring my front wheels up and land rear wheels first. Is that how you jump a bike as well? I'm just concerned about hitting the power band when I blip the throttle and ending up on my back. The powerband on my 250 is scary anyway. Our track outside is way too greasy to ride on but yesterday I was jumping a little 2ft tall snow pile that was still there. I was able to blip the throttle in 1st or 2nd gear on my sons 125 and land OK. Scared to try on the 250, that thing just absolutely explodes. Thanks!

Little different than the Ex on the Cr. Carry steady speed or accel slightly and chop the throttle depending on the size of the face. A jump face very short will kick the rear up more than on the quad. Body position is important as well. I would not recommend the blip unless some circumstances call for it.

I just try to stay on the pipe and do not let off the gas otherwise the rear comes up fast, and give it a couple of revs in the air to stay on the pipe when I land.
