Default help my decide, need avise

     

I have an awesome 1988, (yes,'88) cr 125, it is in excellent condition. I just rebuilt the top end and got about 5 hours on it. It is nice and tight and the bike will fly!! Ive had lots of 125 MX bikes but i think this old 88 model is definately the fastest one ive had. Anyways, i found a 1998 rm 125 in awesome condition for VERY cheap, guy needs the money bad so he is letting it go cheap. I was thinking about getting it but if i buy it i would have to sell the 1988 cr125 i now currently have. I dont know much about the late 90's rm's. Both bikes are in about the same condition, both excellent, even though the cr is a 1988, it doesnt look it. wondering wich bike would be the one to keep? wonder if the rm would have the 'balls' this cr has? I had a 1987 rm125 back years ago, i loved it but it didnt have the power this cr has, or the power the '85 and '87 yz 125's i had either.. wonder if the 1998 rm would be closer in power to the ole cr? Another thing that worries me is that the 1998 rm has a nikasil bore, meaning if it needs to be bored over i am screwed and would have to shell out the money for a sleeve or new cylinder. Thoughts and advise needed from you as you all probably know both bikes well. I dont race anymore, just tear up the feild and stuff and have fun on it.

Take em both out, spend some time riding both and when you make up yer mind sell the one you don't want. Hey if the guy is letting it go cheap you can put it on craigslist and make a profit. Or not

I spent some time on both today and still undecided..lol..I like the rm because its 10 years newer (1998) than the cr (1988), but it feels kinda akward compared to the cr for some reason. The rm has a lot of bottom end and not much on top, really nothing on the top, and the cr is completely opposite, it doesnt have any low end but freakin SCREAMS on the top end. Neither one feels faster than the other, just make the power at a different rpm, actually, as far as running wide open down the road the cr will beat it pretty good because the rm just doesnt seem to have any top end at all. One weird thing is that the rm is quiet, really quiet for some reason and the cr is much louder and aggresive sounding, even at idle, both have fmf exhaust systems on them. cant figure out why the rm is so quiet.
