Default Breather pipe question

Hey everyone, I just bought a 2006 yz 250 and theres a tube that comes out at the bottom ( highlighted in red) and its sitting out some black stuff when I started the engine. The guy I bought it from said its the Exhaust breather? and he said if I took that cap off (higlighted in blue) i could just spray some carb cleaner in their and clean it out. Is that right? please school me I am new to all this lolhttp://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/...50breather.jpg

Yep, thats the "power valve" breather hose. Its normal to drip a little black spooge. If your valves are really worn out you might see some smoke too
I wouldn't spray solvent like carb cleaner in near the "power valve". it needs a certain amount of residual oil to function properly. I just cleaned mine when i replaced a piston or rings.

Ok how did you clean it? can I do it without taking the whole engine apart? and is it ok that its squirting a bit of black stuff? will this go away after I ride a bit? I haven't been able to ride it yet because theirs too much snow here!

yea you can clean it without tearing the bike to peices, just take off the retainer screws holding on the cap and take a rag and wipe out the spooge and go on and ride! it doesnt do any harm to your engine btw

i have an 08 yz250, it blows spooge and smoke out of there. it did it before a top end job and after the top end job. the engine works great.
it is the powervalve breather. there should be spooge in there to lube the powervalve.

I wouldn't worry about it - they all do it.

As mentioned - the black goop lubricates the valves and mechanism.
