Usflag 1986 CR 250 hard to start cold.

I got this bike and didn't have too much trouble starting it at first. Had to replace the right side cover as the corrosion was too extensive to fix. Replaced it with a cover from a 89 CR. Everything bolted up fine with no leaks or unexpected problems. Now, this thing won't start cold unless it's bump started. Once start and warmed up, starts right up. This thing is a beast once running but, you can kick your guts out and no signs life. Any ideas?
