Default Restoring rusted ignition components

Anyone got any tips or tricks for this? Needing to remove some rust/corrosion from the magnets in a flywheel as well as the metal portions of the coils on the stator that get the signal from the magnets. Pretty sure I have the stator portion figured out but the flywheel is proving more of a challenge.

Have you tried phosphoric acid? It gently eats away rust.

Nope, I haven't tried much of anything yet other than hitting it with some carb cleaner and a little scrubbing with some steel wool. I might try a Scotch Brite pad and see how that does; I'm sure the more crap I can get off those magnets the better off I'll be.
