Default strange idle

Can someone give me any suggestions for my idling problem. Sometimes it idles slow and sometimes fast. I have gone over things (even though there may be) I have not found any vacuum leaks. This is my first bike in 40 years and would appreciate any help. Thanks so much, Bil

1983 SP100d

Hmmm, don't know if i can help with that vintage, i'm a more modern tinker but for what it's worth i'd say it's
just a condition of the lean jetting from stock. It is a fine line between the correct idle speed and too high/low. You could compensate by turning the air screw to allow a richer setting which will help settle the idle faster. The idle will hang up there with a lean setting.

It's a 1983 Suzuki enduro 100cc. I have read they imported 700 of them. I just liked the bike. I just posted some pics.

I have been trying to get the carb dialed in. It still has a miss just over 1/2 throttle that I haven't cured yet. Could it be part of the lean situation?

Does it look like this Doc?

You might want to raise the needle (will richen). I'm assuming it's a Mukini carb but not sure. If it gets worse then lower the needle. Also it could be lean.

If there were only 700 imported, you might have a collector's item.

if it has a power valve? Thats somthing you might want to check for proper operation or sticking. Seen the valve cause an idle situation like this.

DUDE....
I just reviewed all the pictures and you have me upset.
You are an artist and a perfectionist.
You have any idea how bad the makes the rest of us look?
Just kidding, honest. You did a killer job and the more I look, the more questions I have like who did the pipe and did you get a new wire harness and if so, where?.

One more question, you live close to Surf City.

Thanks so much. I live in Laguna Hills. West Coast Muffler in San juan capistrano welded up the pipe and moved a mount for me. He is a neat guy, my ex wifes best friend's brother. I wired it myself because I moved all the electronics off the handlebars and wanted as few as wires showing as possible + my budget is very small. Thanks so much for your help.

That is an awsome job!! My connection is super slow here in the middle of nowhere Missouri tonight, so I didn't look at all of the pics, but I can't wait until I get to another motel with a better connection to go through all of them again. Just what we need around here another build king that get's by with having the bike in the house!! Great work Dr Green!
