I will admit the front suspension on the suzy is alittle on the harsh side. That's even after pro-action done my suspension and completly re-stacked the mid valve I am at 16 out on the compression. Have not had any boil over as of yet, but it's cool here now, I don't expect that I will come summer. Ya know out of 4 mags doing test on these bikes you will get that many different opinions that to be expected? I believe they are all going to be contenders in whatever class they are run in. I am running in the 40+ with 450s and such, am I worried about the big bores NOT.. Have been there done that with a big bore and I am sure, the guys who dropped down to the baby thumpers, we will all have big sh** eating grins on our faces next season..

MXA really are dorks. If they thought the front suspension was harsh on the CRF, they really have NO CLUE!! Or don't know how to turn a clicker.

Yeah, I agree that plays a big role in the reviews as well. With that said I also think bike choice is alot about individual preference and riding style/experience. For someone in Ima's shoes the rmz seemed a good fit because it is consistently reported as the "smallest feeling" of the 250s. Plus...they had one in stock the day she went looking, lol

CR I live in Lexington a small town north of Bloomington. If Nadine revamps the SF track we will show up there to race. Mostly Casey and Sunset Ridge. Coal Valley is in the list as well as Galesburg, but not as much as the other two. I've also thought about a smaller thumper. But ......

The track is all relaided out. It is about 3/4 built. We have to put in the 60' step-up table and incline whoops and the gliders. I am hoping they got the concrete tunnel put in. It is alot different for sure, slowed down and not alot of resting spots for us older guys but it will be fun. after riding the rmz I do not see any problems in the vet class or the 450's. Once you ride one you will see what I mean. Alot lighter and a big grin the whole time, it's a blast trust me..

everybody hear about all the problems the kxf and rmf are having? formal recalls 1. air boot 2. hot start is siezing in the mid open position and toasting top ends. major problems: bad cdi boxes. they are on thier 3rd run of them now broken clutch drive gear that's wiping out alot of other stuff. apparently when the cdi goes it cuases some major backfiring that is breaking the clutch drive gear. so far manufacturers are standing behind thier product and fixing these issues at no charge. hope they get the bugs worked out. they seem like great bikes. these bikes can either be very good or very bad for the already struggling kawie and suzuki sales

Ops I think the computer had a brain fart, I guess It didn't think It sent it thefirst time.. Yardpro your right the manufactor is backing there hindsides on the new machines., they would be crazy not to. They do have a graet bike out now and they want it to work. You here of these problems but there not really trendy, that's not to say they could turn that way. I have split cases on the crf450, had starting problems with the yzf250, history is history but they have come a long way. I have done 3 recalls and did not really find what they claimed was the problem. When the factory says change we change.. I think it's great kaw/suz are standing behind there baby now if honda and yamaha could come together on a project just think of the possibilities..

yea, it's great. i think these bikes are awesome. i am really suprised about the # of problems they are having. i don't know if it were cuase of "too many cooks in the kitchen" or what. i hope that these are the last of the problems. If there bikes flop it would be devastating kawie and zooki. i want them to do well. competition makes all the bikes better.

Well, I just had my first ride on Ima's RM-z, and I really liked it. First off, they are certainly made for smaller people. I'm not a big guy (height wise), but it was a bit cramped for my 6' 230 frame. I also rode an '04 KX 125, and felt the same way. However, I think all of that could be fixed with handlebar adjustments etc. So no biggie there. Power wise - That thing is fast Period. I ride an '03 CRF and though my bike is quite a bit more powerful, the RM-z loses nothing to the 450 for a rider of my calibur. I thought the power was really good everywhere. I don't normally rev the bikes I ride (which was a problem on the KX125 obviously), and usually short shift just as a habit, so I never really got into the really high RPM's so I don't know if it goes flat or not. However, I'm pretty sure I hit 10 or 11K on it and it pulled really well the whole time. The power was really smooth as well. I found that on the RM-z rolling the throttle on was not as big a deal as it is on my 450, since it seems to tracktor better when you give it the gas (as least it does for my fat butt), whereas if I stab the throttle on my 450 it will break the ground loose and lose traction. Not so on the 250 thumper. Ergo wise, the bike feels really thin and light. It actually felt thinner than the KX125, though I'm not sure why since I think the frames should be close to identical?? My only quam, and I stated this was that it was pretty cramped. The bars were too close to me for one, but I think that could be fixed with some bars with less sweep and just pushing them forward some and maybe rotating the clamps so they are forward more (I think it had that option). Suspension wise: I really really liked the suspension. I know it is not setup for a rider of my weight, so I thought it would be pretty mushy, but it wasn't oddly enough. It was very plush on the small stuff, and didn't bottom at all on the big stuff. It felt really good to me. Turning was percise too. My only complaint in this regard was at speed it felt a bit twitchy, but nothing you couldn't deal with. Cold starting... Man this thing is a bear to start when it's cold. I'm not sure what the deal is and we did mess with the pj, and fuel screw, but since the bike didn't get cold again we couldn't really test it after that. However, what we did fix made the warm starting better too. After putting the 40 pj back in and making sure the fuel screw was at 1 1/2 turns out, it started on the first kick every time (when warm). We were at 1800 asl, and 65 degree's. We still had some back fireing on decel, so I think we could have benefitted from going to 1 3/4 - 2 turns out on the fuel screw. All in all, I really liked the bike. My biggest complaint is that Suzuki should have put their full set of plastic on it, vs only the shrouds since I really like suzuki's plastic the best of all the bikes out there.
