I have a factory service manual and have searched it several times to find out how wide to set the timing trigger gap. I have set it close and wide without a lot of difference but there is a change in the dynamics of the motor performance . I am assuming that is how to set the timing. Does anyone know?

When you say "how wide to set the timing trigger gap", does it have points?

its a trigger that sits atop or over the rotor of the magneto. The rotor breaks the field (I guess). Where that happens there is an adjustable gap. That gap has something to do with the timing. I have messed with it but I need some direction to figure it out properly. Does that make any sense? Thanks -Bil
