82 suzuki sp 250 help

just got a 82 sp 250 suzuki. the guy said it was runing about 3 months ago. it has spark but it is not getting gas on the plug. it has the releive valve to kick it over. choke on and gas in carb but the plug is dry. i took off carb and it looks good. sqirt gas in carb and it fires a few times . it is sucking gas into the plug that way but it wont do it with just the carb and choke on and kicking. any ideas?

It doesnt take long for the gas we get these days to turn to varnish inside the jets. Even if they look good they are probably gummed up. Take them out give them a good cleaning. If your using spray cleaner be sure you have good ventilation its some bad stuff!!

i got the old suzuki running. it is a bear to start. it seems like it has a hard time sucking the fuel into the plug. when it does start it seems to run good and has good power but it backfires. if it is just reved at the end of the rev it backfires. when you ri-de it it will back fire also. any ideas? it has 10,000 miles on it. i am thinking vaive adjust. thanks for any help.
