Default 2007 RMZ 450 with pics New Member

I am new to the forum and wanted to take the time to meet a few other RMZ 450 riders. I bought my bike about a month ago along with a 2003 Honda xr80r for my son. I haven't been on a dirt bike for somtime but have rode street bikes for many years. I found the RMZ 450 to be a powerhouse........and I love it...I am learning the ends and out about the bike and would like to touch base with a few other who may give me some good tech tips on keeping it in good condition. I do have two issues, the bike has what I call clutch chatter on take off, only in first gear and only during cold take off. Once it get good and hot it stops, oil level is good. I'm assuming I need new clutches because I can't find a clutch adjustment. I am also having oil leakage from behind the front sprocket. I did change the front sprocket with new chain and had no problems until then, I may have had the chain to tight and damaged the seal. I'm thinking the seal and O-Rings may need replacing? Not sure until I get in it. If you have any thoughts let me know. Thanks

The issues you speak of are fairly universal. The clutch chatter might just be that you need time to allow the clutch plates time to get wet, if after warming up, you have no slippage or other issues.
The seal could have been damaged during the removal of the old sprocket if you needed to pry it off. They are easy to change on the bike without any disassembly.

Thanks for the info, I have posted a pic of the bike on the thread. I am going to replace the seal and run the bike for a while before changing out the clutches just to see what's going on with it. The guy I bought the bike from had never raced it and only drove it about 3 hours since buying the bike early in 2008. He said it was to much bike for him and wanted to get a four wheeler instead.

Thanks for the reply, one question how do you post a picture on the avatar? I see some members have and I'm having trouble trying to do this. Thanks.

At the top of this page you will see "User CP", click on it and then under "Your Control Panel" you will see "Settings and Options" and "edit avitar."

PS Nice looking bike.

I love my RM-Z, no problems to speak of, I got about 160 hrs on it and me and rbm33 are going to rebuild the motor after Christmas. Change your oil and air filter often and you should be fine. O and try to stay off the rev limiter.
