Default Richmond 4 hour 2009

Well it's that time of the year again the 4th of July, which means the Richmond "Iron Man" 4 hour enduro I won't bore you with another road trip report but if you don't know what i'm on about check out the 08 report Richmond 4 hour Well this years trip was just as good, but a little on the chilly side, although a dam "Roo" decided to have a close look at my caravan on the way home. The good news was that the eldest son finally took the title of "Iron Man" after his 3rd attempt this year It was a great performance from him and the trusty 08 Kawasaki 450 showed the field a clean pair of heels, after some early battles with the European brands I did get a bit concerned with the chain tension in the last hour as it ran out of adjustment, i will never run alloy sprokets again in a 4 hour they chewed out something terrible, maybe the sand didn't help. He was exhausted at the end, but i could tell he was happy . The youngest boy did well in his junior class finishing 3rd after leading, but hit a log and bent his gear lever back onto the foot peg I had to straighten it enough with limited tools in the pits to get him going again. He lost about 9 minutes but made it back up to 3rd and finised 7 minutes behind the leader, which was a good effort. The Iron Man trophy was worth winning $600 cash, a tool box full of tools, and a polished Moon Stone trophy, good for use as a door stop and some Motul oil products, he also picked up another $300 for winning the open class, all in all a good result. Well that's about it for 2009, so next year he will have to go back and defend his title, i can't wait

Wow! Big accomplishment for both youngsters! Races of this type are so much tougher than MX. Tell them a dude from Oklahoma sends huge congratulations!
