Default Novice bomb run from Jackrabbits H&H

Almost did this race but the bomb runs at Red Mountain kinda freak me out. The bushes are much larger then Lucerne and the rocks seem to pop out when you least expect it. It's hard to see but someone lawndarts starting around the :57 mark....ouch! Looks like the famous "rock behind the bush" got him.

Been there.....done that and it usually ends up a short day for ya!

I know exactly how he was feeling. It's not good but I will probably feel that way again.
Pretty cool to have that on vid.

Way back in the 60's an ol wise desert racer told me that many years ago the wind was blowing pucker bush seeds across the desert and one of those seeds blew up against a rock and settled on the ground. That seed, over the years grew into a pucker bush. Today, that rock, now covered with sand is still under that pucker bush.

Lesson learned.....
Don't ever go through pucker bushes when it can be avoided because that rock is many times, still there.
The pucker bush will give, the rock won't.

And yes, I have experienced this the hard way.
Takes a long time to get your wind back.

Short story....Was racing another Vet guy up at Red Mountain and tried to make a "desperate" pass. I saw a line through a pucker bush and it was the only line before the single track section. I put my head down and "tried" to go through it. The bike kicked sideways to the right...then the left....nose down rear up...then left again. I got the bike straightened out and somehow got around the other guy. Took me about 2 miles to get the seat cover out of my .

I can say "I'll never try that again" but that's not true....

Aptly named bush "pucker up your about to kiss the dirt" That's like this bush the Chinese bought into Aus back in the gold rush day's "chonkee apple bush" fast growing and was used for fire wood. Now the stuff is everywhere, just like the "Cane toad"!

Awsome vid main. Gotta dig those long legged Husky's and the carnage at the end! Also saw a couple of white-stripe helmets in there. Can you ID them?

Pucker Bush. Hmmm. I don't hear that phrase much any more. If I say it I usually have to explain it.

A well-spent 4 minutes and 39 seconds there, Jet. Those video shots were awesome.
Looks like some of it was shot from a Cessna.
