Should have had the radio and heard what the starting guy and the scoring lady were saying about you, Billee.

It wasn't bad so I'll just post it. The starting gate man reported to the scoring lady that there will be a bike with multiple numbers on it and the real number is 844. The scoring lady responded back with "Is she blonde or what?" Priceless!

I will ride as many classes as possible since it all goes for a great cause. I told char this year, I would ride the chick class if she would bring a wig...doesn't really matter to me. Next year, I will find four classes to ride even if I have to sandbag.

Shoulda rode with us anyway James!!! I truly appreciate the fact that you "get it".

Well some of us have a hard time getting the courage to line up at the gate as it is. Yes the cause is very important to me! And YES thats what Im there to ride for. The thought of being lumped together with a bunch of die hards quickly crushes any courage that took me a long time to build. If I only want to ride in/with my own class I guess that means I dont "get it" Heck, why even bother having "classes" at all then!? Just have race # 1,2,3,4,.... Someone who "gets it" can and WILL support the fund/cause in other ways too! Its not only about how many classes you pay to race in. Last edited by mxmama393; 10-07-2008 at 09:01 PM.

I may be reading this wrong and if I am please correct me. I don't think the original "get it" comment in this thread was directed at anyone. The term "get it" or "gets it" refers to having the complete understanding and reasoning behind the GMB event...meaning it is not just a mx race but a memorial event. The proceeds of this event go into the GMB Memorial Foundation so that Mr. Berg can help those dirt bike riders who are in need. The more classes one would enter means the more money from entry fees that goes into the Foundation fund....and that is what "gets it" done. Hope that helps to clarify.

Wow Jenn. I really wasn't referring to anything you said, in fact, it had nothing to do with the way the classes were gated at all. I meant what I said, I appreciate the fact that James "gets it". I see that he's wanting to enter more classes to get more ride time in and ultimately, contribute more to the fund. Sorry if you thought it was aimed at you in any way, I can assure you, it wasn't.

Yeah, this was my fifth GMB and it never ever is about the race. It is all about the ride. Getting on the line at all is a big step. Some folks make it look easy, but most have been riding for a long time. You don't have to race or even ride hard Jenn, just line up, let a few go and take off. Have fun, find someone to throw a little dirt on you or them. I sincerely hope my little bit of sandbagging didn't make anyone angry. It was just my way of putting some extra into the kitty and leaving more of my soul on the track than I had before. Speaking of courage crushing, try leading a kid for 2 laps, having him pass you, he falls down, gets back up, and then catches you like you were in reverse. LOL. LD

My personal opinion is that IF were going to hold races, which is something that will be discussed for next year, the classes need to be fair. I agree its about having fun and raising money, but there are other ways to do that. Racing a class above instead of below your skill level would afford an opportunity for an additional contribution to the fund. Personally, if I was to race, Id want to race someone my own skill range. It wouldnt be any fun for me to get lapped 3 times in a 4 lap race! LOL. Not only would it not be fun, but itd be dangerous. Can you imagine my slow butt racing in the same class with 288 and Lawdog and the likes? One wrong novice move on my part and Id put everyone in jeopardy. When I heard who was racing the Novice class, I declined to enter and decided to shoot instead. Now if its done like Jedi did, he ran at the back of the back, never once running up to his capability, then its a whole different story than the girls racing in Lawdog's class wouldve been. That was just plain silly. Electing myself as in charge of sign ups was a joke by the way.

This is garbage. All I wanted was an extra class, so I circled one, not thinking that there were monday morning quarterback revelations to come. You really think I would run back to back classes (both 6 and 7)if I was trying to gain some benefit from it? I could give a crap. I just wanted to ride. If this is how it works, take my name off the list. LD
