Default Re: kxf 450 valves

I ride a CRF, but the maintenance should be about the same.

The oil filter should be changed around every other oil change (with a paper filter) or if you buy a metal screen (reusable) filter you might as well clean it out every time. There is some debate as to which type of filter does a better job, but I have never had a problem with either.

I generally try to peek at the valves on my 06 CRF every 15 hours or so on the motor. After the first couple of times you do it you will get to the point where you can check them in 15 mins or so.

If you do not have an hour meter do yourself a favor and pick one up at ~$40. This lets you keep an accurate track of your maintenance intervals.

Don't be afraid of the valves on your new four-stroke. Just keep up on checking them (find a problem before you blow it up) and change/clean your filter/oil/air-filter at decent intervals and your valves will last.
