The lowering links, seat shaving and dropping the triple clamps should do the trick. When you set it up for your weight, you'll be surprised how comfy you feel on it.

KKX~very nice job on the seat-shaving!

Kouba link on the rear, drop the forks to the 5 mm mark and do the seat cut down it should make a big difference. Macho393 did a lowering modification on a 450 a few years ago, maybe he can offer some input. How tall are you Jennifer and what is your inseam measurement? Seek to get close to the inseam measurement as is reasonable. Some tippy toeing is to be expecxted. I have a 31" inseam and my 426 is taller than that. Although I am 6'-1" and go at 200# so the bike can be weighed down. Use the sag setting too within reason.

Mama,
Mark's 18" rear wheel is good. It may be only an average of 5mm in height but that little bit helps and an 18" tire wheel assembly is better for woods and trail riding. More tire side wall to absorb rocks and roots, helps with flat prevention too.

Something else to consider for you and your husband's bikes. You will need spark arrestors for state and federal lands' trails.

All that info helps out allot... great options!

Bill, funny you mention the spark arrestor, we discussed this recently as a matter of fact.

Honestly, here is what I am thinking. My KX100 is the BEST trail bike I have ever had...
XR100, XR200, CRF150 out of those bikes I was always left behind when I fell over, and they beat the crap out of me cause of weight or size.

NOW, so far no one we ride with can can (comfortably) keep up with me. My husband just got to where he doesn't ask me to slow down. He is getting better. I am NEVER ready to stop. I was EASILY hanging with the "guys" last week. (too easily)

Must be my track in the back...Thats all I can say!

There are many times I get hung up on a root or tree due to the 100's wheel size. In a funky position like that, I can hop off and pick my bike up and over the obstacle. Also there are times I am teeter tattering (feet cant reach) before I have to hop off. I can maneuver this bike very quickly in any given situation.

What I am getting at is I don't think I will be slinging that 250 around in the woods... so that will me my "track" bike.

Even though I got the KX100 for suspension on the track, the lack of mass just gave me other insecurities. (thats my story and I sticking to it!)

So thats my plan for now 250f track bike KX100 trail

All this can change with out notice at any given moment!

I know, but putting it in writing is a preparation method used for husband control purposes.

Hey... Got the bike with the link on it!

PERFECT HEIGHT just like that!!
Thanks motodemon172 for the tip

I dont need to shave the seat, or anything else. I just needed to bring the front down a little to level the bike out. But I feel PERFECT sitting, riding, standing!!!

LOVE IT!!! I have a permagrin on my face since we picked the bike up!
When I started it first kick, not leaning on anything, no help, then I drove it up on the trailer.... I am in LOVE with this BIKE!!!

The website for kouba says lowers it 1.7". That could just be how much it lowered the rear. Not sure.

I think there was a link that lowered it less if you want.

The stock seat height was 37.59" now my bike measures about 36.4"

I havent got the front end set YET. I am working on that right now.

I had the forks slid up as much as stock allows, but the front end was still too high. So I put a 3/4" spacer kit on my bars to make more room to slide the forks up.

My measurment as of now with the link, the spacers on, and forks slid up is 36.4

That could change, still working on it.

Looks like I am going to do some seat shaving...I need to slide the forks up some for safety issues, and I am going to get a shorter link for the rear. Hubby says I am too close to hitting the fenders with the tires. So, I will be shaving the seat soon and using KKXR400 step by step guide posted.

Thanks again

Shaved the seat and lowered the forks in the clamps on my 450. Made all the difference for my short legs.

Well with some help from KKXR400R, I finally shaved my seat down.

Thanks fro the help!

My husband felt like I needed all my travel back so we removed the Kouba link.

To make up the difference I shaved my seat. Well, that made the handle bars way too high. I had risers on them to make room for the forks being slid up.

SOOOO, I had to lower the forks to take the risers off.

As far as seat height goes, I am where I was with the link, but with all my suspensions travel available should I need it.

anyway this is how it turned out

Far from perfect, but I'm content with it

That actually looks pretty trick. how did you get the seat cover to follow the bump so nicely?

Blood, sweat and tears...and alot of staples.

On a serious not I tacked a few staples into the cover right at the bump and worked the wrinkles from the bump. I tried this for my cover but I have a little air pocket by the step. I'll be working with another seat cover in a couple weeks for a friend of mine. I'll try and get some pictures.
