Default Bubba to go 2-smoke after all??

The hottest rumor out of the winter test sessions is that James Stewart has changed his mind about racing the KX250F and has returned to his trusty KX125 two-stroke (leaving Paul Carpenter as Team Kawasaki's only in house four-stroke guy).

If that is the case it furthers my opinion that we need to step it up to the 250 class. I thought that before, but when he was going to ride the thumper it seemed like a viable excuse to stay in the 125s. But now...he needs to be da man and get up the RC, k-dub, etc...

maybe he figures that with the new crop of thumpers, he will be the only guy on a pinger, and will be at a "disadvantage".... either that, or hes win happy i think that he defenitely has the skill to go to the 250's but the mental thing of being only 16 years old and racing seasoned 20-year olds etc in the "big boy" class, and he needs another year to practice on the 250 (when he's not practicing on the 125) i think its smart thinking. sure, he'll wax the hell out of the competition (again) but that way, he can have more time to get ready to wax the hell out of RC

maybe he'll race east 125 and on the west he'll do 250's? i think he should step it up, they say he's faster on a 250, and his 125 lap times were good enough for top 5 250, so put him on a 250 andi think he could win or at least be in the battle.

Theres no way its bored over, not a top racers bike. SOme of the midpack riders probably have them though. Usually 134cc kits

it's illegal i think (per AMA rules) to go over 133. but, i read a mag report where they rode some other guy's 02 Pro Circuit KX125, and it made close to 40 horses. a stock 125 makes about 31 to 32. i'm sure bubba's bike is "faster" than that, since it's an 03 and he's the top factory rider for Kawasaki.

i totally forgot about the east/west series, that would be better to do the east on a 125 and west on a 250, he doesnt need a full year IMO, but half a season is perfect.

Whatever he rides I can't wait till the series comes to Dallas. RC, KDubb and Stewart are all world class riders but I think Stewart will smoke everyone.

That's too bad. I had hoped he'd ride the thumber. I agree with Zoo on this one. His reason's for staying in the 125 are getting weaker.

ama rules alow an .080 overbore. it is a relic left over from the steel liner days. bubba's bike is at the .080 limit i am sure, as are all the guys. mud pack guys cheat alot becuase thier bikes are not torn down in podt race inspections. only the winners bike is

Bubba originally stayed in the 125 class because he wants to tak home all the records he can before he moves up, and the new thumper coming out was kinda like a throw-in bonus. AND he would have POSSIBLY been the first series winner on a thumper. BUT apparently he JUST LIKE ME when I rode one, had many mid-air stalls and that's got to be one of the scariest things I have experienced(falling like wounded duck from the sky).
I think when you are riding as fast as he rides you have learned how to ride on the ABSOLUTE edge and when you experience things like mid air stalls, that can take you out of your game or take you out all together. And I am sure he has pondered the thought, "Why try to fix something that isn't broke?" He can just stay on the trusty 2 smoke and wax the comp then I would too considering other factors. It's amazing how the 250 class is just WAITING WANTING WISHING he would move up just to see will he succeed or fail, will he be a first place finisher or just a podium threat. . . . . I think the learning curve will be rather fast once he goest through his first race cuz with the skill he has, you have no choice but to get better. Just my .02 cents.

Oh yeah, 04whyzee, see ya at TX stadium(I have been there the past 10 years).

think what you want, but IMHO.....the only thing he is gonna be waxing is his bikini line if he steps up to the plate with RC and K-DUB.

Guess we will find out someday
