Ok, well we are 100% Jensea (my 14 yr old daughter) is not going to do the dirt bike thing. She loves riding 4-wheelers and thats all there is to it. She has a bayou 220. She rides around on my Rancher (300-350 I think) and my hubby's Foreman with no problem. She has many years of experiance with utility type 4-wheelers. Anyway, she doesn't understand that these are "utility" 4 wheelers and they cant be jumped. We always have to make her slow down on the track. What can we get her that has the suspension she needs, but not a full out racing quad. The guy at the quad shop recommended a 90cc, cause by "LAW" thats all she can get. But screw that, its smaller than her 220 and she is cramped on the 220. I was hoping theres something around 250 -350cc range that we can hunt for used with a decent suspension set up just to see how much she is "into" it. Thanks for any help

Jenn, I think I'd look into a Honda 300ex for Jensea. Fairly decent suspension (if I remember right) sport quad. I would imagine you could find a used one fairly reasonable. I think she's about the right size for one. I think it'd be a good introduction to sport quads for her. Of course, I'm not a kwad person...so hopefully someone else will chime in.

Yamaha just came out with a new 250 cc 4 stroke sport bike to replace the Blaster. It's electric start with a manual clutch and sport type suspension. The reviews have been great, and the price sounds pretty good too. Honda makes a 250ex that is basically the same bike with an automatic clutch. I'm kinda a Yamaha guy though, and the manual clutch would be mutch better for riding tracks. Here's the link to the Yamaha [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Thanks. Those are the ones we were looking at. If we went the Honda route I wonder if we could put some wider tires on it. That bike looks like its top heavy. I guess I need to test them out to really know. Again, I really don't know anything about racing or sport quads. Never even rode anything but a utility one. I was wondering if the wider ones are as stable as they appear to be, or ifs its just an illusion. We looked at the Yamaha "Raptor" ..... wait thats the name of our camper, maybe I'm confused. Hummm.. I'll check back later when I got my facts straight

I loved my raptor 350 while I had it. The ergonomics were all there, it just felt great to ride. She would also grow into it alot better than the 250. The raptor 350 in stock form is a pretty tame quad, and it is balanced almost perfectly. I felt comfortable jumping 65ft table tops on mine and I was way to big for it at 165 lbs. It can also be made into a competitive race quad with some airbox mods, exhuast, and slight engine work if you wanted to go that far. I would recommend getting nerf bars right away though since they are a major saftey feature incase her leg ever slips off the peg while jumping. I had DG alloy nerfs with the heelguards built in and they looked and worked great. If you have any more questions as far as the raptor 350 goes I would be happy to answer them for you.

i rode quads for a while, and i'd have to agree with char on the 300ex realy reliable ride, and if you were to go the 2 stroke route you might look into the blaster but then again im not sure if your wanting new/used, and as yzalltheway said nerf bars are a must when i rode mynerf bars saved me from some major accidents, you can check out pro-armour.com they have some realy cool stuff for many applications

She needs at least a 250. I'm a yami guy too so that's were my suggestions lead as I don't know much at all about the smaller hondas. I hear about a lot of 14 year olds on 450s as well... is that out of the question |
