We were down at Pecan Valley a few weeks ago for a big AMA race, when Blake came in complaining his chain was "making noise" so we go to look... the chain tensioner bolt was broken off. no clue how that happened, but with his race coming up soon we had neither the tools or time to ez-out that stuck bolt. so, his "crew chief" also known as "daddy" whipped out the ol' chainsaw (!!!) and whittled a small block of wood from a stray 4x4 we use for a wheel chock on the trailer tires... shaved it to precision fit with a pocket knife, hammered it into place, fired up the chainsaw again and cut a vertical groove, in which he put two zip ties to hold the custom chain tensioner in place. Blake ran two complete motos, finished 3rd (i think?) in 85 9-11 and he even got to talk to a guy that helped him up after a crash in practice... guy's name turned out to be Michael Alessi.

Pete, don't you think about it i already got a patent on this baby. you may have gotten the trick bike stand (i'm building one right now... haha) but i got the rights to this piece of trick factory bling.

Rob

Ha ha, great story! As a scrutineer i'm aghast! but hey a man's gotta do the impossible on race day to keep the boy's going. Well worth it looking at the smile on your boy's face, well done! don't forget to send my royalty payment for bike stand

Great fix but.....................................
my question is how many people take a chainsaw to the track with them?
