Default My Sons First dirt bike CRF70

So my son 7 years old, has a cheap Tao Tao Quad that keeps droping bolts and parts when hes ridding it. Some parts are hard to find. And he has ben saying for some time now that he wants a dirt bike. Well we alwys taught he was a bit crazy for a dirt bike. thats why we started him off on the quad, He loves that thing and jump it on little hips and everything but it just keep falling apart.

Anyways his BirthDay is on the 28th and we got him a 05 CRF70 but its a bit tall for him. He cant flat foot it and has to tippe toe and lean a little to be able to touch. Now this is the question. Should i install the CRF50 stock shock on it to lower it along with a triple clamp to lower the front forks ??? Witch triple clamp will work ?? or should i first see how he does with it as is before i go spending the extra money ???

I would leave it as is. He will grow into it quick.

Yeah i was thinking of that i just hope he doesnt take a hard fall and then get discouraged, he loves the quad. It just keeps falling apart.

I agree with above, if he can touch foot on one side he may be ok so see how it goes. Also maybe have a bike stand out if he rides in the back yard to help him along. Just a thought but its really up to you (the parent) and him?

Sidenote: I'm 5 feet 5 inches and rode a XR650L on the street for 6 years and could bearly touch one side or the other... also regularly ride a CR125 that is too tall for me as well...
(For what thats all worth - nothing.)

Well just as i tough he rode it a bike but kinda scared to stay on the throttle, so when it slows and he tries to turn he falls down and then get frustrated because he can really kick start it all that great. But when hes on it riding around he loves it and is proud of him self. I think i might get the top triple and the 50 shock and get him to be more comfortable with it.
