Default Coming off a XR 100

My brother (12 y/o) is currently on a little xr 100 trail bike. He has started riding tracks and we can all notice he needs a better bike. I was thinking that he should go to a yz 85, and he agrees. He loves the idea of having a two stroke, even though hes never ridden one. He really wants to race and I think that the 85 would be appropriate.

What do you guys think?

An 85 is alot of bike for a 12 year old unless he's got good skillz. I've rode some 85's that haul my fat 215 pound butt around pretty good. Do you know anyone that has one? Might let him give it a try and see how he does before you buy one. just my 1/2 peso

Get the 85, he will learn how to deal with the power, my 12 year old rides one he came of a dr 125 and went straight to the 85. He still doesn't use all it's power yet, but he's getting theyr'e.
