Seriously, that is a very nice set up. Our toy hauler is 7 years old now and fits our needs perfectly but I'm just amazed at the differences in the newer ones.

Prag, Cherie hauls the 34' horse trailer just fine. It's not as wide as the 5th wheel and I have yet to give her ago at the 5th wheel. I'm sure she would do just fine.

Mama, the biggest things to remember with a rig like that is the width, they are the maximum allowed by law. Also, with that much length behind you, you have to make wider turns.

Yeah...zip it! You'll do great! I have faith in you. It isn't as hard as all those MEN think it is.

I think I can handle it. At least we have a gooseneck for me to feel it out on. Then I will know when/if I am even comfortable pulling the new rig.

I wonder how much wider the camper is than the gooseneck.

Heck... NOW I am kind nervous about learning.

If I dont get to bring it EVERYONE of you will know why

You need to focus on driving slower, not taking out everything when you turn that big thing and thinking WAY ahead of time. If you have to stop or do anything last minute you are screwed. You see a stop light ahead of you, you start slowing down like you are not going to make it. Always give yourself plenty of room to slow down and stop. Those things are impossible to stop quickly even when you are going slow. I wish we I had an exhaust brake and I would feel way better about it. The other thing is taking it easy on the truck. Take off slow, never hammer on it or floor it, NEVER lug it and good smooth clutch use. Don’t brake hard for a long time or you will overheat the brakes and then lose them completely. You basically have to drive like you have almost no brakes. Be prepared for people to pull out in front of you all the time because in traffic they do. Then you have to slow down to get them off of your front bumper. That’s why in traffic you have to drive slower then everyone else. Then they don’t stay right in front of you and brake quickly. You have to think ahead so you don’t get yourself in a bind you can’t easily get out of.

I had to read it twice but I think I need to read it a third time now. That is alot to digest. I think I would be subsribing to the cliff note version of that email plus alot of common sense and safety and relying on myself-not the other guy on the road.

He is really worried about the weight. I can respect that. I probably enhanced his worries because I cant even tell when when I am pulling a trailer with a couple four wheelers in it. I just cant feel the weight. It bothers him that I cant feel it. I just think I get so used to driving around with it, its like second nature

I feel I break soon if I am pulling a trailer or not

I am sure I will feel the weight of the camper, no doubt there

boy.. the pressure

Its great though!

It'll be a fun experience, I just hope Jody isn't bald by the next time we see him.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it and hopefully Jody will feel confident enough in your skills that you can bring it. If not, I sure hope you'll bring Jude anyway, it'd be a shame if he didn't get to experience the GMB with his mom.

all i know is.....women drivers, no survivors! Just kidding. I got that from a Josh Hill interview a year or so back. please take no offence, just a joke. although my mom is the worst driver i have ever had the displeasure to drive with, im sure that there are plenty of women out there who can beat me out on the track, and the road too. i wear my helmet when she drives. it drives her nuts. but she really is a bad driver.

Jim and Doc,
You guys are being to humble. I've seen both of you ride and "spode" certainly doesn't describe either one of your skill levels.
