flasher yz 125 Vs. crf250r

Ive never ridden a crf250r, but ive pretty much ridden four strokes all my life (Im 16) ive been riding for about aight years now, but the first four wasnt really riding as it was in my yard. Anyways i was wondering on which bike would be better at the track, alot of people say the new 05 and up yz125's are alot of fun and very light but the powerband is tricky. Soo what bike would be better for a novice rider. (C class)???

Finnaly you can see the light,125 is definately the choice to go with!!I love 125's.They are light, cheap, cheap to repair, easy to bebuild, fast when ridden right.I can ride my 125 faster then my 250f bgecause I have to push harder to go faster and end up carrying more momentum round the track.Ounce you learn how to ride an udnerpowered 125 at a fast pace you will actually be faster and find that extra speed on a track. If you get the 250f this early in mx you will be a slower, lazier rider.Get the 125 and train on it until you get to the B-class,then get a 250f and you will be sooooo fast with all that extra power. Get the 125 and learn how to go fast instead of making the bike do all the work and becoming lazy.

hahhaha, you sound like my best friend... he is a 2 stroke kawasaki fanatic!!! (your a ktm guy but...) but what i really want to know is if an 05 and up yz 125, or rm or sx or cr is better than a 2001 kx 125, because in my opinion it was a little slow, but i dont think im used to the "on the pipe" details yet. and it has alot of hours on the engine,... but if they are like that then i will go with a
250f, or maybe an sx 144 if its better for me. but maybe im wrong because your talking about them being underpowered... sooo maybe i just dont get the idea........................................
now im really confused.

Alright im ganna try my best to describe it......New comers or riders with mild experience an can make thier way around a track good will thrive on a 4stroke,because of torque. But if you get a 4stroke this early you will develope a lazy riding style and end up being a slow guy relying solely on the bike to get around the track, this is bad!!You want to ride the bike around the track like a savage beast, not a sloth. You want to be gliding and flying over the obstacles not sitting back and twisting the throttle. That is why you need to learn how to go fast on a under torqued 2 stroke so when you get the four stroke you will severely benifit from the newfound extra torque.Yes the newer 05 and up yz 125 will eat your friends kx,a ktm 144 will be even faster and will provide you with more juice up top to rev farther and longer.Get the 2stroke,learn how to go fast, then when you step it up to the B class then the A class get a good 250f and stomp the competition.

Exactly it,you can get hurt on a 2stroke if you dont know what your doing. But truth is that if your 250f isnt jetted right, then once you pin it at the base of a jump you will bog and go over the bars. You really need to learn how to haul @$$ up to the jump so you can carry the speed up and over it instead of coasting up to it and gassing it and risking a lag or bog.Plus,if you pass the guys at the track on a pinger smoking like a son of a b**ch because its wide open burning oil.You will gain much respect and remember practice makes perfect I still got my 2-smoke and for good reason I pm'ed links to some fairly priced yz's.

Yeah i see what your saying. My mom doesnt even know i ride so ive only been riding every weekend, and i get better every weekend. Im gonna try to convince my mom so i can go riding during the week with my friends. (my parents are divorced) but i like that idea, all my friends are four stroke guys except the guy with the kx. But if i get real good on the yz i know i will get respect cause they think that 2 strokes are too hard to ride!

Good luck with the search for your yz, one of the best things that you can do is wait for a deal, don't just jump on a deal just because its one of the few bikes available. If you do, you could be jumping into a very big problem, just look the bike over before you buy it look at the things that are regular maintenence such as air filter, brakes, etc. these things will tell you if the guy took care of it, just be careful when buying a bike if you wait for it, it will come. Try to resist the urge to ride for as long as possible until you find the bike you want, so that you don't jump on any bikes that aren't in good shape. I found out it helps to try to find things to do to fix your itch to ride. Finding the right bike for you is very important, so take your time. 125s are very good bikes once you learn how to ride them. Once you have this mastered "riding on the pipe" they are awesome. Sorry if I overstressed the wait for the right bike, I just want to make sure you don't get screwed over, trust me it will save a lot of headaches, not having to deal with someone else's problem.
