Default Yo 2smoke or pig

Hi I'm currently saving for my new mx bike, I used to own a crf250r and that was the best bike ive ever riden, but it cost me far to much to maintain which led to me having to sell it, I'm thinking of going back to 2strokes, I would like a CR250R 03 onwards, but 4strokes are something else man they are just great, its either the 2stroke or a Honda crf450r what do you guys think ? Could you give me some info on crf450 maintenance, and cr250, cheeeeers !

If you are on a budget and want to keep maintainance costs down I would reccomend a two stroke. You will have to do more maintaince but most of it you can do yourself and it is alot more inexpensive. It is pretty hard to completely toast a two stroke motor that cant be rebuilt without completely killing your pocket. A 4 stroke can last you a long time though if properly maintained. And keep in mind if your last bike was a 250f, a 450f is a night and day increase. I would reccomend trying one out if possible before you fork over the dough to make sure its not too much.

cheers man, ive always wanted a 450, i got the 250 and man that bike was sweet, all i do is alot of stunting and just going fast offroad and occasionally go to the local tracks, nothing serious like racing, i just love the torque and that fact that they dont kill your arms like the 2smoke, do u think i shud do it then, is a top end rebuild pretty easy on the 4s ?

i always got my dads mechanic to do my 250f , pistons , suspension , valves etc, all i ever did was the oil and filters etc and simple stuff, coz the rebuilding looks pretty complicated, thanks for your replys guys

I agree with ctroger24 as long as you don't race the 2 stroke and keep oil in it the motor will last alot longer than the new 4 strokes And when the 2 stroke die the cost of rebuilding it is like 300 bucks for the top and bottom end as long as you don't need to hone the cylinder . The cost of rebuild 4 strokes are like 5 times more than that . 2 strokes all the way .

Codie is spot on with his post.

If you are looking strictly at economics, the 2-stroke costs less per ride period.

They are all expensive if not cared for.
