Default two stroke, or not two stroke

hey all,
im getting a new bike, and i was thinking 2 stroke 250. something like a 250 exc with a low-ish seat height. but then i found a ktm 400 sxiugr (letters that i don't care to know) that was a dual sport for the right price. does anybody have any information on a 2000 KTM 400 sx or related models?
thanks, Zach

It really more a matter of personal preference. Some people like the snappy powerband and light weight of a 2-stroke, others prefer the lowend grunt of a 4-stroke.
I personally prefer a 4-stroke for the grunt and because they just about run forever. Different strokes for different folks.

Depends on what your looking to do with the bike, MX or Off Road. the 400 is a great trail bike but not what you would want for MXing. The suspension is not right as well as the power delivery. If off road is your riding preference then this would be great choice, just if the deal is too good be careful with older 4 strokes not maintained right.

I think I'm leaning towards a smoker. I've been raised on 2 strokes and i don't appreciate the flat top end that most four strokes have.
and those damn valves.... ewwwwwwwwww.
so now its almost definatley a pre-2002 ktm 250 (since they have the lowest seat height)
does anybody have any experience with these?
and i've heard a flywheel weight makes it alot more trail friendly...
thanks, Zach
