Ride Report on CRF250 Vs. RMZ250

A couple of people have asked me for a comparison/ride report on both, so here it is.

Ill start out with the CRF since that is what i had before the RMZ. The CRF is a good all around bike and it comes with Renthal bars, it packs a huge hit down low and just screams when ur coming out of corners. Top-end on the bike is pretty good but a little sluggish, it takes just a couple of seconds before it lights up and really wants to go. I found the suspension a little stiff for my liking but that my opinion, and the stock tires were ok but not the best ive ever used. The only HUGE complaint about this bike is valve problems, me and 4 other riders up here all had the same problem. All of our bikes shot flames, they smoked like a 2-stroke, and started only half the time. Now im not saying that all CRF's have valve problems but its just something you want to watch out for. Now for the RMZ, I absolutely love this bike. The bottom end isn't as huge as the CRF but it still packs and pretty hard hit down low and comes out of corners haulin a**. The top-end is HUGE on this bike, its almost like a 2-stroke because when you want it to light up and scream its immediate with the throttle. I thought that the suspension was perfect but thats my opinion. The stock tires were about the same as the CRF, they were ok but not the best ive ever used. Now i have heard that the RMZ's have valve problems, but i have not had any trouble with mine. As far as the over heating goes, we use engine ice and it works very well and when I start the bike its always when the 30 sec. board goes up. The only complaint I had about this bike was the water pump cover and the stock bars, but that was easily fixible. They are both great bikes, but I think that the RMZ is a better bike overall.

Sounds like your impressed. Your bike must be pulling some HP with the engine mods you have.
I've not been riding for a few months, Havn't got a bike at the moment but I'm thinking about the 05 suzuki RMZ250.

I dont own a RMZ250, but ridden a demo bike several times and it pulled very well on the bottom, but in offroad/scramble applications the engine signed off way to early and I had nothing to cross open fields with against 450F bikes and 250 twostrokes with 14/50 gearing. But the bike felt light, cornered well, nice ergos, and again, had a very nice bottom end that was great for jumps right out of corners, and worked awesome in tight woods application for scrambles. The RMZ250 is nothing short of a blast to ride. Im seriously looking at the '05 to see if they ironed out the '04 bugs.

It's a 125 class bike. I would be worried if you were hanging with the 250 class bikes. It's not supposed to keep up with them.
