Actually a lighter fly wheel will make it stall easier. Have you turned up you idle? The reason I ask is that they are supposed to be 1700 +-100 on the 450 (check you manual on the 250). It was low on most all 450's from the factory.

That will help with the stalling. The other reason, is related to not enough seat time. Cause if you must be really slow Just Kidding. Seriously though, you're making a huge transition. Now when the Pro's say they can't just switch back and forth from race to race, you'll know what they are talking about.

yeah i turned up the idle but i turned it abck down for a couple of reasons.

1: im scared since these thumpers run so hot that i do not want to overheat her. i started her up and let her idle for less than a minute or two. when i was taking her off the bike stand my arm accidentally hit the head pipe. MY GOD! it burned the frick out of me. i was pissed and now im missing hair on my wrist on one arm.

2: it sounds weird with the idle up quite high and the bike wasnt running as well either. the low end seemed to run better with the idle lower. this could also have to do with jetting i assume.

i understand the seat issue. im getting more comfy with her lately and more daring too. its amazing how over-confident these new thumpers will make you feel. i came out of a hard transition from soft pack to hard pack and the rear end swapped side with the front leaving me laying in the dirt still sitting on the bike. my arse still is throbbing from it. UGH.

It takes some time to get used the engine braking off jumps, but with enough body english you can just coast off. It threw me off at first because my usual shut off point was to early and i'd case. Gassing it off jumps is too slow cause it pops you up in the air. Any body who's seen buba ride can see that staying low is alot faster! Just find where you need to be on the bike and pretty soon you won't even think about endoing. Have Fun!!!

Don't worry, soon enough, you'll get used to it and won't "coast" since that's the problem, you have to keep the throttle steady.

You just need more seat time.
