Hey guys and gals, I am new to the forum and dirtbikes but looking to get into riding and need some advice on what bike to get. This seems like the place to be!. I am 31 yrs old and fairly big at 6'3 225lbs. Price range is about 1k-1500 bucks and looking for something fairly quick with low maintenance and reliable. Im not looking to rebuild something just to make it run right right away. I wont be doing any mxing just trail riding and riding on dirt roads and paved roads to get on it once an a while. I would only be using it on weekeds really. I have seen some 125 and 250 2 strokes and some 4strokes but dont know where i should start. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

agreed... but it might be hard to find a bike for the price unless you get a fairly older bike or come across a really good deal. Kawi's are a little on the larger side, well atleast the newer 450's, but that would be way above your price range

If it was me, I would prolly go with the Yami..... Seems like a good deal.... The CR seems kinda pricy for that year.....And I just don't like Suzuki... Thats my thoughts

i would see if the guy with the cr would go to like 900 then buy it i think those older 4 strokes are gonna be really hard to start

A 250 2-stroke is probably going to be your best bet. Especially when you are talking older 4-strokes, they can often need a little TLC in the engine department and that can get expensive.

plus for your price range you get the most bang for you buck with a 2smoke

i vote the 250 as well, i use to have a Dr350, it was a great machine but was a ***** to start if it was hot. It kicked back like a mule

Thanks for the info guys. I dont really want to spend much more. I dont think its justified knowing i will only be riding it about 2 or 3 times a month. I ll check out the cr250 and im checking out the Yami sometime this week.
