Default My next dirtbike/dual sport??? which one?

So.....I think to my conclusion the FE450 is what I am looking for, but looking for some opinions. Based on the dealership and a few people from thumpertalk the FE450 is perfect for my kind of riding.

Most double track, exploring, moderate technical trail, and once in a while some single track with some technical stuff in it. But also allows me to hop on the road and go 70MPH to my next trail destination or if I need to get back to my truck on 1 way trail systems.

Eventually if I end up doing very knarly terrain and very technical rocky rides I might get a FE250 or maybe a yz125 2T if thats an idea bike.

opinions? I currently ride a KLX250 so im guess this will be a night and day difference to the FE450

I really want a FE350 but unsure if it can handle 70MPH for about an hour (to be safe)

again these will be dedicated trail bikes but just might have to hit speeds once in a while to trail hop

Many of my friends have the WR450F and it works great for them dual sporting and trail riding. The wide ratio transmission helps. I've also got a few friends that really like the KTM 300 EXC. It's very nimble and has tons of power when needed. The new ones are fuel injected too. I'm still not one that enjoys riding a 2 stroke down the road vs a 4 stroke but on the trails it's hard to beat that 300. They also have older 200 EXC's but I'm not sure when they stopped making them.

thanks for reply!! ive heard wr450f also makes a fine trail / technical bike and once street legal, great dual sport.

I have a buddy at work who has the 450f and he takes it in to work often. Goes on the highway 70mph no probs. I might consider this one also and save me some $$$

do you guys think its a good bike though for steep climbs, and even slow controlled movement on technical areas?

Look at the YZ450FX, or if you are dead set on the Austrian varieties it would be a KTM XC-F450 or (I think) Husky FX450.
WR's are good bikes but choked up from the factory, and depending on what year you get there's different ways to open them up and get them running like they should have from the showroom floor. Probably a bit heavier than the other rides you are considering.
