I have a 2007 TTR 125 and considering selling it to buy a 2001 TTR 225. The 225 has been garage kept and has less than 50 hrs on it. The guy sent some pics and the bike looks new, but needs a new starting coil? Something around $300. to fix. Other than that, the bike is in outstanding shape. I can stick to the 125 - trails are all I ride. But the frame is a little small - I'm 6'1" and weigh 155. I look goofy as hell on that little bike. End question for help: Does anyone know anything about the TTR 225? Is it a good bike? I heard that it ONLY has electric start - No backup kick start. Is that a big deal? Also, any overall issues or things bad? Thanks all-

Theres always more issues than what people state. theres no kick start so if you cant start it and test ride it, then i woulont not do it. I think you should het a 125 2 stroke, and practice on that, it will kill the 225 in every type of riding, faster, quicker, LIGHTER, and cheaper to maintain.

The 225 is a pig... I would look more toward the CRF 230R. I once asked my Yamaha dealer about the TT-R 230 and he said its no better than the 225 and that the Honda was the way to go.
