Default Ideal bike?

Hello other ATM member. I am going to be getting a bike here soon and i am debating on what i need to get. I am 15, 130lbs, and 5' 8''. I have had experience on dirtbikes and four wheelers since i was 7. I am thinking about the yamaha ttr 225. I ride alot of trails, an occasional jump here and there.I know the suspension suck and im sure i would upgrade it. What do you guys think? Tell me some other bikes you would also recomend.

The TTR is a real practical, dependable bike and you would enjoy it a lot. But, it isn't the lightest, fastest, or sportiest bike in its class. In general, it's best to buy a bike that is closely suited to what you want- instead of buying a bike and trying to turn it into something else.
I've been watching kids on stock and almost stock CRF 150's at the desert races and I have to say I'm impressed. It may be worth considering.

TTR 225 = heavy and underpowered. If you want something in that market look into the XR200 or CRF 230. The XR's are less than glamorous but as reliable as the sky is blue.

Upgrading suspension or anything else = $. I'm not sure what is even available for the TT-R225. Probably not a lot.
For trails, I recommend a KDX - either 200 or 220. In stock form the KDX fork springs will be OK for your weight but the shock will be on the stiff side. Other than that, your good to go.
