Default Help 450 or 250 2 smoker?

Hi, I currently have a 2012 KX450F and I am a advanced rider, I have riden 4 strokes most of my life and never really thought of getting a 2 stroke but at the moment I have the chance to swap my 450 for a 2014 YZ250 2 Stroke, what do you guys think I should do, I have riden a few 2 strokes and quite liked them but i just can't decide, any advice?

Ride what you like. The power delivery of a 4 stroke is generally much more linear and predictable, while the 2 stroke can produce a more violent "hit".

I ride a 2 stroke because I can rebuild the entire motor for the cost of rebuilding the head on a 4 stroke. However, proper preventative maintenance on a 4 stroke keeps the risk of that low. I don't want to be stuck with a $1200 + rebuild on my hands.

Thanks for the advise, I currently have 2 weeks to decide so I'll see what happens. If I do decide to go for the 250 do you think I'll be missing anything on the 450 apart from the torque? Thanks

Yeah you will be missing about 15lbs

What kind of riding do you do? Yz will kick you in the pants and keep you on your toes, but for most Mx tracks I've ridden if you can't carry your speed you will suffer clearing longer leaps straight out of turns. Four strokes allow you to make up for that with a quick pull up the face where momentum is the key on the yz. That's why I sold my yz and ride 4 strokes now. I'm old and lazy and I suck at right hand turns. Don't know why that is really... blastem left handers and goofy right handers ..anyway..I guess it's winter in Aus now eh? Lucky bastid.

If you're a regular-sized adult, then get the 450

I ride 2 strokes so obviously I'd say go with the yz. Lol

My step dad has a 06 yzf450, I had a bit of seat time on it back in the day and found it kind of boring in comparison.

I know up here a clean 250 2 stroke costs more then most 450's now on the used market.

I had a 450f and just sold it last week and picked up a 2-stroke. I personally prefer 2-strokes but only you know which one is best for you.

I am a 250 2 stroke fan I like them better than a 300 , 450 s hammer no doubt about that but the style of your riding will be the difference in your choice id say go the 250 and see what you think as the YZ would be my choice of allround bike

Of course I'm gonna say to go with the four stroke because that's what I prefer. But if you like the two stroke, go for it!
