As I have stated before, my friend has a dirtbike, a Yamaha TTR90. I love it. Riding it is really fun. I now want a dirtbike. The problem is, I am on a strict budget. I only can spend about $400-$450. I know I have to go used. I don't want anything under a 90cc engine though. Can anyone help me out? I won't be racing or anything (except maybe his Yamaha Thanks in advance; Austin EDIT: I am about 5'8'' and about 135 lbs.

You might be able to find an early 90s XR200 for that.. not much power but still fun to ride,, real nice trail bike.

Actually. I am willing to spend around $700. I decided to just go for it. Anything new? (Thanks for the replies)

It depends on how big of a rush you are in. I find a couple of things each year for your original price range that can be brought back to "useable" for a topend and seals, and lots of elbow grease. Craigs list is good to start on here. FYI the old xr's can get pretty spendy. My "free" xr250 has about 1500 in it now if you had to buy all the "stuff" even considering ebay that I did to it. I think it is worth it, but you may not.

No no no.. I don't want anything new, simply because I know I won't get what I want out of it. And I know, I shouldn't ask this; but are off brands any good in dirt-bikes? In my other hobbies, Chinese knock offs are getting really good, so I dont know (I just really got into dirtbikes to the point of studying about them yesterday)

That's what I figured. If anyone here has AIM, and would be nice enough to help me, my s/n is Synyster06Gates. Thanks guys. Oh what do you think of this bike? [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I heard 2strokes have a powerband and have better acceleration, and also sit up higher. Is this true?

Oh, I wouldn't consider knocking off any Chinese. You would have better luck with a 10 year old yamaha or honda cr 80 in the long run. you can find them for 600 and under if you look. They will need a topend and seals, but will probably run longer the way you buy it than one of the rigs you mentioned. The difference where I live will be that you will be able to get parts for either of the two 80's I mentioned. Both are better for your size than Kaw's or Suz's.

Well, I can ride a TTR90 no problems, no hitting anything. I dont like how it sits that low though

if your just lookin for a bike that you can bomb around on then i would try to find a old xr200 like was said before. its a honda so its a bullet proof motor and its gonna last a life time if you maintain it correctly. look around ebay to try and find a bike close enough to drive to.

Dude all I can say is do not buy a bike two small for you. I was the same size you are now, and thought that a 06 kx100 was the only bike for me, a couple months later I realized it was the only bike not for me. I ended up trading the kx for a raptor 350, and last weekend I traded the raptor in on a 03 yz 125. Now that I have a bike that actually fits me, and has sufficient power for my size, I realize that I should never have bought that kx, even though it was an insanly good deal.
