Default Is 80 to small?

Im 13 and 5'8 and i want a bike that i wont grow out of for a while. I want a 2 stroke and ive been looking for bikes on craigslist. I found a 1995 yamaha yz 80 that is in my price range but i would like to know 1. If that would be to slow for me. and 2. if that would keep up with my friends crf 150r big wheel on a sand track. Both of these bikes are stock.

At 5'8'' you're already too big for an 80. Get a 125 or a 250f and you'll be good for a while. And no, 80's really aren't too slow, they are a blast to ride.

Shouldn't be too hard. What's your budget?

I got my 2001 CR125 for $900. Deals are out there if you look hard enough.

ha ha....1978 honda xl 125. I know how much more power that would have and it would take time getting used to.
