250 or 450?

Hey fellas/ladies....

Had a prior post looking for input on the CRF 250 X. Now I'm starting to wonder if a 250 is the way to go. I don't doubt that it can handle my tail...I just figure why not get the bigger bike if I can find a relatively close deal price wise.

It's no secret that when searching through Craigslist or Ebay you often see 450's priced the same as 250's. The only difference is usually the year.

I'm a good sized boy so I definately want somethin to haul me around the trails, through the mud and over the hills without stressing the bike to much.

6'4" and 215 lbs. Give me some thoughts here folks!!

I am definately looking for a 4-stroke....not so picky as to whether it a trail set up or an MX set up per say....just want an good bike that treat me right!

Def a 450 for your size, now you have to pick a color!

I can tell you that at the 200+ category the 450 is the only option for me. The 250f's just don't have enough power. The 450 has it in spades.

I see....I see. You holding to that statement when I tell you that I haven't had much seat time on the dirt? I'm very comfortable on the street but the dirt and I just haven't had a bunch of time together.

I think you'd be flogging a 250. If you have any doubts, when it's time let me know and you can ride my 250f.

Just saw this on another site, somewhere in Mississippi ...

2007 CRF450 $2400 call for more info. 601-425-2484 ask for walt

Seems like a screamin deal. Must be a dealership, he has several units listed.

Yes, I'll hold to that statement. Unless you want to upgrade shortly after you get the 250F.

No, no and Hell's no. As a former Motorcycles salesman, I would tell people all the time, "Get what you want now because if you don't you'll be wanting to upgrade or wishing you had in six months"

The only thing I've got going for me if I get a 450 is the fact that I really don't enjoy pain :hide ...so I let common sense prevail most of the time when I was riding my YZ 400 F. I probably played it a little safer than I needed to but I'm 29 and Haven't had a broken bone yet! I will say though, I may be a little more prone to push myself this time around as I want to be able to enjoy myself while riding and the truth is.....you're gonna fall off. Part of the Sport!

Thanks for the input guys.....I still got plenty of time to "chew the cud" on this subject but I'm kinda agreeing....a 250 might be a little over worked with my Gi-normous butt on it!

I think that's the right choice.
