its easier to make a 450 "slower" or have less of a punch than to make a 250 carry your big ole...

Exactly right!! It's like flopping my bohiney on a miniature horse and floggin' it to make it run faster! Poor horse is liable to give out! Git a big horse and it'll probably go faster than I'm willing to ride it and all I gotta do is pull in the riegns!!

Sin....you are to funny!

Red the WR is a killer bike, it's got the same engine as the 450f, but is detuned so it's more slow rider friendly. But you have the option to unleash it if you want. My mate did 32000 k's on his without a hitch. And it was used for everything including mustering Roo's.

Roger that PJG....I like the WR as well. Even over the CRF-X.

I found a couple in the area but I'm not gonna rush it man. The wife has pretty much given the green light for January or February so.....that's when it'll get really serious! The Idea is to know exactly what I want when that time comes around! That's why I value all the imput I can get. Thanks man.

Negatory soldier! You march right up to Corporal Killamans Dream and tell her you are in the process of gathering intelligence and when it has been collected, deciphered and analyzed, you will be instituting your game plan in time for GMB.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot....Over. I did that once before man! The YZ 400 F I had was a, "by the way, I bought a dirtbike on Ebay" type conversation. Only real fight we've had since we've been married (9 years). Besides, if I just surprise her.....Cpl. Killamans Dream will turn into Colonel NoMo Mojo.....and I gotta be able to work my mojo.

Besides man, GMB this year is going to be awesome even if I don't get to ride. Getting back in touch with old friends and getting to make new ones is always a party! Like I said, Jan. will be here before you know it and I've got a vacation to Colorado in October that I'm saving for right now. Besides, I can enjoy some frosty beverages and watch you guys rip it up on the track and then at the end of the day let Mr and Mrs. Twister drive me home.....wooooo-hooooooooo

I would go with a 450,pick your brand they are all good,as far as being to much for you, They only get as fast or hard to ride as you want them to. It's called throttle. Just don't twist hard till you think your ready! 4 strokes are cool, they are all tractors and the new ones have the two stroke quickness, but you can build into the 2 stroke quickness over time.Remember...just work into it,you can ride anything unless you get stupid b4 your ready. You are in control Heck I've even been thinkin about get a 4 smoke 450.And I've breathed a gas/oil mix my whole life!! I would just go for it and you'll never need "more power" for yrs.......Jerry

You to bro. I can't wait! And I hear ya' CC. I have always lived by that mindset. After all, when you wreck it ain't the bike's fault...it only did what you told it to!

how about something like the husqvarna 310 four stroke? 6 speed with e start. im kinda in the same dilema and thought that would be a great option. im looking at the used market and will never come across a husky in my parts so probably ill go 250 and then big bore it later to somewhere around 300.

I'm almost your size. I went with the CRF150R.

Yeah, I thought about that but the used racket doesn't have a lot of choices as far as the KTM's are concerned. I like the 400 but I have only found one used and that was on ebay and half way across the country.
Dude thats cuz nobody wants to give em up! They are awesome bikes! I wont buy another brand now that I've owned one and trust me the only thing getting my 07 250sxf outa my hands is another 250sxf with fuel injection!
