Default 2005 YZ450F first ride report!!!!

She's a beast, that's all i have to say. Suspension is a little harsh but i dont have any idea on how to adjust is so i'm taking it to get it totally done tommorrow (i'm so excited!!!!)!!! But the engine is great, ergo's are great and it really runs good. It has more power than my piped 03 model and i've got a White Brothers Carbon Pro ordered to go on the 05! I can't wait to get that bling bling! Well, thats about it for my report!

Huff my man,

Good deal on the 05. But keep in mind you get extra points for being Descriptive....Short posts on something like this is "Zero Points" so come on and be a team player give us the real deal. What is better about the 05, How does the power respond "They smoothed it out?" etc.. any little trick things you get with the 05?

Glad you got a rip snortin monster

Later man cool about the bike

Huff,

Keep in mind that after the suspension breaks in it will smooth out a little. When new all suspension is a bit harsh.

Congrats on the new ride bro.

LOL Guys! Thanks for the tip motoman, i never thought of that.

Ok, here we go. The power is much smoother and seems much easier to use so far. The clutch action is AWESOME! So smooth compared to my 03 450 which is very notchy and grabby. The shifting is smoother too on the new bike, my old bike every great once in a while will miss going into third gear and sometimes second, but the new bike is very tight shifting.

On the other hand of being smooth, the new bike has awesome power. It rips all the way up to the rev. limiter without the hit that wears you out.

Another thing i really like about the bike is that it comes with renthal bars and a NICE gripper seat that works real well.

Theres only a couple of things i dont like about the bike are that it is to quiet in the stock exhaust form, and it comes with dunlop tires on it. I like my bikes loud and nothing but michelins!

Huff, how different is the power characteristic from your '03? I am looking at the '05 model line and have not ruled out the YZF450.

Your Gas gas will match the YZF quite well.

Huff,

I forgot to mention about that Carbon Pro....You Lucky Bass! Just about everyone standing on the podium has that can strapped to their steed. Let us know the difference between stock and the CP.

Well just take a picture of it and hang it on the wall. Then you can remember how it looked like when new.

C'mon get it on. I can hardly contain myself. I feel like reaching through my monitor and strapping it on myself.

Huff,

Got a question on the oil for the 05? I thought they made some change from the 436 to the 03 450 as far as where the oil is put in. Where do you put it in the 05?

Also did they seperate the engine oil and transmission oil ala the honda?

And if you know what is the capacity for the oils/oil

Thanks.

Have you ridden anymore. If so how is that suspension now that it is breaking in.

Ranger,
I'm not sure how the 05 is but i'm guessing it is the same as my 03' 450 which is the same as the 426. In the front of the frame, oil filter on the right side, and a drain plug in the bottom of the cases. And the oil is in one place still, it isn't separated like the honda's.
I also haven't gotten the bike back from the suspension guy yet, so i'm not sure exactly how it is going to be.

That's awesome. mxerhale just got one too, and went riding today. He said I could ride it, so when I go riding with him, I'll give you a '03 CRF vs '05 YZF comparison writeup.

I really can't wait to ride it. I wanted to ride one for as long as I can remember, but just haven't had the chance yet.

Also --->

AND we're going to need to see some pics of that Carbon Pro before and after installation. Those pipes if nothing else look good. But I guess for the price... THEY DAMN WELL BETTER

Will it fit with your stock side cover? I saw a picture of Windham's bike and it had like a flared out side cover. I didn't get a close look at the Yamahas.
