Default 1991 Beta Zero Trials

Starting
Started fine cold or hot, kick starter is easy to live with.

Tranny
Neutral was easy to find. Good range of gears for trials riding and even technical woods riding.

Engine
Easy to maintain. The water-cooled 260 two stroke is absolute magic for anyone new to trials, the low end torque is unreal... I could dump the clutch in first, at idle, no throttle, and it would not die.

Suspension
Inverted forks were cool, both ends responded well for a bike of that era.

Ergo's
Fine, but once you use a hydraulic clutch on a trials bike, a cable feels like torture... the Beta Zero was cable.

Brakes
Fine. Front and rear hydraulic disks.

Misc
By today's standards, this bike is still one of the most user-friendly bikes you could own if you are in the beginner to novice to intermediate class. Once you move on to advanced and above, the throttle response and light weight of today's trials bikes are glaringly apparent. Then again, the quick motors and chassis of modern bikes are a hinderance to someone who is just starting out.

Final analysis
Jordi Tarres won umpteen dozen world championships on this bike, back in the day. The cool aluminum gas tank / frame are definitely trick, and I can't say much more than I already have.
