In all honesty, if you are buying a 125 from that era, I would simply look for the cleanest one you can find and go that route. A used 125 that's going on 8 years old and is still in good shape and has been taken care of well is gonna be a hard find. Find a nice one and go for it IMO.

That being said, I wouldn't do anything but a Yamaha when it comes to 125's.

I would either go with an RM, which i never hd troubles with, or a YZ, which my friend has never had a problem with.

i agree with just finding the best condition 125 you can for the best price. doesnt matter which make. ive always been into honda, but when looking for a 125 i found a decent YZ so whatever i bought a yamaha lol

i got my 03 yz125 for 1200. seems like a decent deal, but it needed bars, and to rebuild the rear shock ...so it wasnt that great of a deal

I would like to repeat the notion that you find the best deal you can and keep a couple of hundred on the side so that when you get the bike you can do a top end right off the bat.
