New to the Forum
Own a 01 CR 250R and I and turning it into a TRAILMONSTER!!!!
I read the forums on turning a MX bike into a woods bike and how much it will
cost. However, I got a good deal on this bike so I can splurge to make it woods carving machine.

Stats on the Bike:
New Engine and clutch!!!!!
FMF Gnarly pipe
Renthal Bars
WWR radiator guards
Metal Melissha graphics
Front forks redone by BBR-too stiff for woods-settings backed all the way-need input here-front end needs to be softer
Rear shock rebuilt for my weight and riding and new Pivot works bearing kit installed
New x-ring chain and sprockets 13/53-can you say SNAP WHEELIES!!!!!
New Dunlop tires-too hard for woods riding-need input on better tires
New Acerbis bark busters
New clutch handle
New Kickstarter
New Oversized Footpegs
New MSR skid plate
New MSR shifter
New Pivot works wheel bearing kits
New Pivot works linkage bearings kit
New Pivot works swingarm bearings kit
New Carb vent tubing with loop seal put on float bowl overflow-for woods riding
New Engine Ice anti-freeze
New MSR Steel Rear Wheel Axle spacers
New Rear Brake Disc Rotor-mud style
New MSR Axle blocks

Need help with the Following :
Gas tank selection-Clarke or IMS???
Weight of flywheel weight 9-10-11oz????
JD Jet Kit-will be riding lots of technical trails from 1K to 6K in alt-yes we have lots of mountains on the North Olympic Pennisula. Need low end power control and need to make the best use of fuel. This thing goes through gas like it's free right now.
Reed Valve-who makes the best valve for low end torque and power???
Lighting Kit???
Kickstand-no looking for trees to lean up against is not fun and the bike usually falls over anyway!
Front Fork Valving and spring selection- I live near Seattle-anyone in this area???
Better Seat-my tushy huuuuurts after a long day in the saddle!!!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Aden Rich

As for the tires I have a kenda millville on the front of my 04' KX250 and a kings tire on the rear, I'm not sure what model. If you search for threads on "what tires to use" you should be able to find some useful information.

Sounds like a nice little project. I have a question..What are WWR rad guards? I've never heard of them.
As far as your gearing, that's alot of low end. I would drop down to 50 or 51 (stock) and see if it's a little more manageable. The 11 oz flywheel weight works well with my gearing (14-48) but you may have to play around with the rear sprocket to see if it works with your riding style. IMS only sells a 3.9 gallon tank and Clarke has a 3.1 (I think). The IMS tank didn't fit well and the triple clamps hit the top of the tank. I switched to the clarke a little while back...Lighter, fit's well and less bulky. I have had no problems with my seat foam but had a few people say that Guts racing makes a softer seat foam and they like it. Pro Moto billet makes a kickstand. You can also get on that just bolts on to the swingarm. Lighting kits...good luck. I have been searching for a while and I think they only make a 35 watt system...better off taping a flashlight to your helmet. Hope this helps.
