Default New guy from Michigan

found your forum a few weeks and have been lurking around. thought I would finally make my presence known.

I got into riding dirt bikes about a year ago with a 98 YZ 250 and have since purchased a 05 RMZ 450. I have totally fallen in love with this sport. In the past I have only ridden sport bikes, also raced them for a few years. But the cost to continue doing that caused me to all but stop doing that. Only hit the track a couple times a year just for practice days.

like I said I am new to this sport and at times I will have "many" questions and hope you will be patient with me.

I get out and ride about once a week or atleast every other weekend for sure. Hope to see some of you out on the trails...

Keep the rubber side down,
Paul

Jumping will come with seat time man, slowly that fear will disapate. Nothing in the world compares to doing a good sized double or triple for the first time successfully, it's a great feeling of accomplishment.

I busted out laughing here, bro! "successfully" is the key word. I totally agree with you but nothing in the world compares to coming up short either.
I'm still

Go ahead and be scared of jumping Paul, but MotoMan is right. It will come with seat time.

yeah it's not the jumping part that really scares me it's the not making the landing that bothers me. actually it's both parts now that I think about it... The biggest thing I have ever jumped was a pile of dirt about a foot and a half high. and the first few times I was pretty scetchy. I can ride a crotch rocket at 100 mph with my knee touching the ground with no problem at the race track, but to jump a bike a foot over the ground still scares me. But like you guys said it's all about seat time.

been doing most of my riding at Geels and Denton. Have hit other trails but can't remember the names. Would have been riding this weekend but decided to do some hunting instead. Plus I am waiting for my steering damper bracket and my new sprockets.

Welcome to Paul, nice to have another Midwesterner around...note to Mods, we need a demographical breakdown to see who has bragging rights. As others have said, the jumping bug will bite as you get comfortable riding. Since there are a few trails guys and a bunch of MX guys a weekend "track-n-trail" trip would be a cool idea this summer.
