Welcome to the site!

As far as what to do for storage - drain the tank and carb and check your antifreeze concentration or simply drain it completely to eliminate the possibility of freezing.

Other than that - count the days until you can think about riding again!

start your bike with the gas pitcock turned off is the easy way. Let it run until it dies.Your gas will not be good over the winter.

I would store empty.

Pull the fuel line off the carb, put the end in a gas can, open the petcock and drain it. Once no more fuel comes out, close the petcock and lay the bike over on it's left side - this will get the fuel out of the right side of the tank (there's a hump in the tank) and repeat the draining.

Laying the bike over on each side will effectively remove 90% of the fuel from the carb, too, but it's not hard to pull the bottom plug off the carb to get it all out.

I would not suggest using a stabilizer. I have no personal experience with it when mixed with premix, but $10 worth of mixed fuel is nothing in comparison to what's at risk when you run it next spring.

Good suggestions above and welcome to !!! If I was going to store for a long time I's take the spark plug out and spray a little oil into the cylinder and slowly move the kick starter a couple time to get a good coating on the walls.

I have been reading though the manual that I was so greatfully directed to and it suggests a few things but draining the fuel from the carb and tank are on the top. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Get it and read it its got heaps of good stuff in it. If you have the paper manual that comes with the bike then just read it.

Grey? Kinda foamy? If so, you likely need a waterpump seal and bearing. Could be the case cover gasket but not as likely as the waterpump seal.

Some oils could come out grey with a lot of use - kinda depends on what it looked like when it went in.

this is my first tranny oil change since i've had the bike. no, it was not foamy, and the previous owner said he had just went through everything on the bike, replaced wheels bearings and fork seals, did a leak test on the motor, etc., etc., and put motor oil in the tranny if this makes a difference?
