Default I am wFo250's mom

To introduce myself in this forum, some may feel is inappropriate, since I'm not a dirtbike rider, racer, etc. I do, however have three sons who ride, and a grandson who races. My son, John (wFo250) has in the past been an active member of allthingsmoto. He no longer has a computer at home, but logs on when he can, as he did in December 2008 while I was there for the holidays.. he used my laptop. I may be asked to post this elsewhere, but going ahead anyway. John was seriously injured on a ride last Saturday 1/17/09, when he landed a jump on his front tire and subsequently went over the handlebars. He has a lower back fracture. They did surgery late Saturday night. He has 8 screws in his back and is in intensive care at a hospital at Fort Worth, TX. The doctors report he has feeling in his legs, but cannot yet move them on his own. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. I know if he could, he would log in and say hello to his moto buddies. Thanks for the opportunity to post. I hope I haven't broken any rules. And for someone who is not an active dirtbike rider, how am I supposed to know that KTM dirtbikes are orange????? what a question!!

I wish you and your son the best. I have been there with partial/temporary paralysis and can tell you it's scary as hell. I was fortunate and I really hope your son is too.

You and your son with be in my thoughts. Please keep us posted about his recovery.

My heart sunk when I saw this. I had the pleasure of meeting John and riding with him at GMB a few years ago. He's a great guy. Please, let us know if there's anything we can do. Would you mind letting us know what hospital he's in? I'd like to send some balloons or something. John will definitely be in my thoughts and I'd appreciate any updates you can give.

GrandmaNet,
I am so sorry to hear this. I have spoken to John many times over the past 6 years. Please send me a Private Message with the hospital name and your phone number. I would like to call you. I anxiously await your response.

Please tell John that Mr. Berg said hello. I will keep him in my prayers and thoughts.

Sincerely,
Mike Berg

Ditto again.
I have ridden with John several times and would love to talk to him when he is able. I have never heard him utter one negative thing about anyone. I will pray for him.

Hello Grandmanet:

I am so sorry to hear about John! Please let him know that we are all praying for him!

Tell him that Howard said hello & that when he gets back home to let me know & I'll send him one of my old computers!

He bought me a Dallas Supercross ticket when I was down & out!

My turn to pay it back!

Please ask him if it's ok if we call him while he's in the hospital!

You raised him to be a good person.

hope he gets much better- i allways mention checking into wheatgrass as it is so powerfull and promotes healing of flesh with minimal scar tissue resulting. im NOT a Doctor and the good Doctors certainly don't usually know about such things.but the AnnWhigmore foundation promotes awareness of wheatgrass and i do beleive it has saved my life before.

I just talked to John's mom, Kennette. He is in ICU so flowers and balloons are not so cool for now. Cards are fine but no phone calls yet. He should be out of ICU in 3-4 days. We will be clear to send all the well wishes we want at that time. He is in...

Harris Methodist Ft. Worth Hospital
1301 Pennsylvania Ave.
Ft. Worth, TX 76104

Mom said she would let me know when he got a room and we will have a room number to mail to. John is in good spirits but let's be real here. He can't move his legs so it's a little scary. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Doc, but I have WAY too many faults to be dubbed a great man. It's just that I consider John a good friend and worthy of any moral support we can give him. He has faced much adversity prior to this and he is facing this one with the same determination as before. He is strong but I know he will appreciate our support.

Good news boys and gurls. I just got a call from Kennette and John is out of ICU. She handed the phone to John and we were able to visit a few minutes before a nurse with no sense of humor needed his attention.
John sounded great. He was positive and upbeat as always. He is in a wheel chair but he can definitely feel his legs and Doc says he will use those same nerves to move them. Just a matter of time.
So for anyone who wants to send a card or just offer a quick hello......

Harris Methodist Ft. Worth Hospital
1301 Pennsylvania Ave. Room #480
Ft. Worth, TX 76104

He will be there a few days. Here's a link that makes it pretty easy. Send him an email or whatever.
