Default Hello from Illinois

I have been riding bikes for sometime but it has been several years since I have been on a motocross bike. I decided recently to buy my 8 year old a KTM 50 SR PRO...well I can't let him have all the fun. I bought a 2004 yz250 with about 10 hours on it. It is a real screamer. I took it to the track with a friend and boy did it teach me a harsh lesson on respect. I walked or should I say hobbled off with a broken ankle and 2 torn ligaments. It will be at least another 4 weeks before I can ride. This will give me time to work with my 8 year old. Anyway it is nice to be on a forum where everyone is helpful.

Sorry about the injuries. I'm sure they aren't your first ones from riding dirt.
Anyway, welcome to ATM.

No it is not my first injuries, but first broken bone anyway. Could still ride with the others. This one sucks. I keep telling my wife once I get mobility in my ankle and it will fit in the boot...all I need is someone to kick it to life and I can ride.

Welcome to good to have you! Man, hate to hear about the bad reintroduction to the sport. Hope you heal up quickly. Where are you located in IL?

I live in the Western Illinois area. The town is Macomb. The home of Western Illinois University. The main reason I got back into riding was for my son. He has wanted a dirt bike for quite a while and I finally talked my wife into getting him one. Well...I can't let him have all the fun. My 2 year is in love with motorcycles now. I probably should have gotten a sleeping bag too because my wife is not happy after this injury.

Alright another Illinois rider. I live in Bloomington. Did a few jobs at Western University a few years ago. You ever go to Sandy Oaks over by Keithsburg?

No...I have not been over there yet. I am getting back into riding again. I have only been to a couple of local tracks around here. Most of the time has been helping my 8 year old on his KTM 50. He has dreams of being the next Travis Pastrana or Ricky Carmichael. (Another reason I should have purchased a sleeping bag. My wife will have many sleepless nights until she embrasses the sport)

Not much happening. Have only been on the bike once since the injury. Congrats on your Graduation.
