I don't know about the Katooms but on my 426 I check them about twice a year. Didn't need any either time but now that I added the 450 cam, I had to re-shim the exhaust.

J,

I wouldn't worry. You ride slow enough that you could probably go 100hrs before worrying about your valve adjustment. Okay, just teasin' I would definately get into some routine adjusting your valves and stick to it. We've done my buddy's CRF @ 20 hrs and again @ about 50 hrs and they weren't out of spec. I would think you'd be okay checking them evey 20-25hrs with the type of riding you do (smokin'!).

DO IT YOURSELF! The only way you will learn to do it...IS TO DO IT. The dealer will look at it for an hour and say "there adjusted" and proceed to charge you $200 for the hour they spent looking at it.

dude id do it if i knew how . I know the KTM shop mechanics pretty good though so maybe they will let me come back and watch them do it so next time i will be prepared! They NEED adjusting bad, the thing is SO hard to start and it wont idle unless u hold the throttle almost wide open(the same thing it was doing right before the last eim i got them adjusted) and a soon as i got them adjusted it was fine. thanks for the help guys

There's a detailed how-to on valve adjusts at the 2nd link under my email address in this post. It's really not hard. Time consuming the first time but not hard.
