Default KTM stands behind there products

If you check the post ride fourm, You will see that I have a problem with my 525SX, The tranny is stuck in second gear!

I called the dealer & told them what happend & they told me that there is no warranty on racing motocycles!

So I called KTM & told them what happend & they told me to take it to the dealer & that KTM would warranty it !

All I can say is that KTM wants to keep customer's happy & stands behind there products!

Hopefully I'll never need it, but it's good to know they'll back their product up.

Hey Howard, glad to see you will be getting the KTM fixed. I know Curtis was bummed out about it so I am sure he feels better too.

The ride at splendora was a blast. I rode till 6:30. Had cramps on the way home though. That 4 hour ride sucked but kept thinkin about the ride and that made me feel better.

The group is great. I am very glad I made the trip. Hand is good and hope to be back at 100% next time. Later.

Default Tranmission up date

I called the dealer yesterday( 5/16/03) & spoke with the service manager, He told me that all the teeth on second gear were gone or broken. He said that it look like KTM got a some gears with a bad heat treat,He said that parts were on the way & my 525Sx should be ready to ride next weekend!

Thumbs up Re: KTM stands behind there products

That's great news Big M! Glad to hear that your bike is gonna make it. I guess the company I work for isn't the only ones that have quality problems! :

I was talking to a Honda service manager who said that Honda has had some things like that happen. Generally when your bike is new and it has problems, they'll work with you, no matter the company.

That is indeed good news that they fixed it. I'm sold on KTM. My next bike may just be one. Or a Yami or another Honda, or heck... I need lots of money.

Default Yahoo, I get my bike back

Got a call from the dealer & the last back ordered part came in on Tuesday & my KTM is ready to pickup.

I'll pick it up Saturday morning & take it over to Lake Houston Cycle Park, to get some seat time on it & see how it feel to ride a modern bike again.

I'll let ya'all know how it go's.

Hey big M, speaking of Lake Houston MC Park, have they got the big track opened up yet? That track looked awesome! Pat is doing a great job and I wish him the best of luck with his investment.

Glad you got the big pumpkin going too!

Big M,

I would love to come ride that place but I am neck deep in work. Be sure and throw some roost for me! I will be down soon to check that place out. I may try for the July get together that Rick is trying to organize but it will depend on how much money and time I have to spare before Colorado. See ya!

Default yippie!!!!

Went to Wild West Honda/KTM. To pick up my 525 & talked to Greg the mechanic & he showed me the bad gear, Man there was nothing left of the teeth on that thing,He replace every gear & shaft & bearing in the motor as two of the other gears had chips in them. I now have a whole new transmission. & all it's going to cost me is one of my Coffee cakes. The guy's at Wild West Honda have always taken good care of me & treat me well. That's why I drive 50 miles to buy stuff from them, Ok course the 15% discount dosen't hurt eather. They also service my BMW. I can't complane about these guy's. One of the few real dealers around.

WOW, that is a rare occasion when you have a good dealer like that. I'm glad they are still around and that they took care of you.

Big M, i have two questions for you. I am on the verge of buying a KTM 525 SX. I only trail / woods ride and I wanted the EXC for the 5th gear but the dealer is making me a killer deal. Do you think the 4 speed gear will limit my top speed too much? Second, have you heard anything about the titanium valve hardening problem in the 03 models? Apparently some bikes, depending where they came from didn't have hardened valves and it causes all kinds of problems.
