One of the great things about each GMB event is meeting yet another friend in person that you know from the net. This year YZErnie made the trek to the GMB with Dane.

Let me fill you guys in on Ernie. Folks Ernie is THE REAL DEAL !!!! I felt like I knew Ernie forever only minutes after meeting him at the Berg's home. He is a class act. Then Saturday, several of us asked "who is that guy flying around here on that YZF???" Char told us....that is YZErnie! Man this guy can RIDE!!! Fast, smooth and with the technique of a pro. Sunday in the races he rode the O50 class. This was a mistake. He should have ridden the O40 if not the O30 !!! He would have done extremely well in either class.

After riding both O50 motos and both GMB/TT motos Ernie so graciously came up the jump I was flagging and offered to take over for me. Ernie...I truly appreciate you and I am very fortunate to have been able to meet you.

Well said Satch! Ole Ernie is the "real deal" - I got the same impression. Notice I said Ole Ernie. I did not use the d on the back of the ol. That would be hypocritical since I am a tad older than ernie. :

GREAT to meet you YZErnie.

Satch...you are so right. Ernie is awesome. A little bit ornery, but that's ok.

Watching him ride was so much fun. He's so smooth and so dang fast!

Yep he is one of our favorite riding buddies in Mesquite. He is a GREAT guy and I am glad that he was able to make it out this year to get in on the fun!

Ernie is definitely the man! I am lucky to run into him up at Competitive Edge every couple weeks, and like Ima said we love riding with him in Mesquite.

You're right, Satch. Ernie is definitely the real deal

Seriously though, I am truly flattered by your comments. You all are to kind to an "ornery" old guy!!

As with all of us, the lessons we learn and how we apply them are a direct reflection of those who teach us. I have had the luck, or fortune, or just plain ol' been in the right place at the right time, and as a result have been the recipient of some excellent guidance from some very skilled and knowledgable mx riders. I have them to thank for any on-track accolades.

Honestly, I am just an old guy with a passion for dirt bikes and motocross. I feel extremely fortunate that I have the health (physical and mental) and ability to still be able to ride motocross at the age of 51. I have far out lived my expectations of "living the dream".

Ernie is one guy I was very much looking forward to meeting and riding with. I did both. I watched him pass me twice. I regret that I was not in the pits enough to visit with him more on Sunday but I could tell he was a very genuine individual with a big heart. I only hope I can ride with him again before too long.
