Default RIP Justin Wilcoxson #605

It is with my great sadness that I post this...

Justin Wilcoxson a 19 year old from Columbia City, Indiana passed away this weekend from injuries received while out cruising on his crotch rocket.

He was a true motocrosser and loved the sport very much.
As I obtain more information, I will pass it on this way.

Please keep Justin, his family and his friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Godspeed Justin

A 19-year-old Fort Wayne man injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday has died.

Justin Wilcoxson, of the 1100 block of Breaker Cove, suffered head and internal injuries when his 2001 Yamaha bike crashed.

Whitley County sheriff’s deputies say Wilcoxson was riding his cycle south on Indiana 9, north of Columbia City, just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

Wilcoxson, born and raised in Columbia City, was traveling at an excessive speed as he approached a Pontiac Grand Am, also traveling south, deputies said. The motorcycle hit the rear end of the car, sending the teenager and the bike off the roadway.

The driver of the Pontiac was not injured, deputies said.

Wilcoxson, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike.

He was flown by medical helicopter to Fort Wayne’s Parkview Hospital, where he died Monday, according to obituary information.

Dozens of his friends and family gathered in Columbia City for a ride through town in his memory Monday night, a family member said.

“He was easygoing, a fun-loving kid,” his aunt, Carla Gebert, said. “Justin loved motorcycles. He was on a motorcycle every chance that he got.”

Gebert said she hopes other bikers will wear their helmets.

Default Jus

I raced with Justin for about 6 years. There are very few racers that I admired and looked up to as much as Justin. He was fast, smooth, kind, funny, and much more. He was friends with pretty much everyone. We all had a lot of good times together at the tracks and he is going to be missed very much. RIP Jus....keep us safe kid. we love you

I am suprised to read he was not wearing a helmet while riding his streetbike. MXers typically know better than most the value of protective apparel.

My best to Justin's friends and family. Sad news, for sure.
